Description and usage: Made by steam distillation of pimento berries. It has a bright yellow color and a warm, fresh, spicy scent. Warms the body, so it is welcome with rheumatism, respiratory problems and stress, exhaustion or depression. It is a mild analgetic, soothes the mind and muscles. Tightens the skin and in an undiluted form, promotes skin redness.
Blends well with: ginger, geranium, lavender, orange, patchouli, ylang ylang.
Interesting facts: Allspice, also known as Jamaica pepper, myrtle pepper, pimenta, or pimento, is the dried unripe berry of Pimenta dioica, a midcanopy tree native to the India, Greater Antilles, southern Mexico, and South America, now cultivated in many warm parts of the world. Allspice is an evergreen tree which grows up to 10m high. When it is the three years old, it starts to bear fruits, which contain two green kidney-shaped seeds, which become black when the fruit is ripe. Pimento is also called Allspice, its aroma is reminiscent of a mixture of cloves, juniper berries, cinnamon and pepper, and is widely used in Indian as well as Mediterranean cuisine.
