Description and usage: Bay leaf essential oil is obtained through steam distillation and has a yellow-green almost orange-brown colour. It possesses a sweet yet spicy fresh scent that is reminiscent of cloves. The essential oil is often used in cosmetics for men because it is effective against irritations caused by shaving and impurities. It is also added to massage oils or bath additives due to its relaxing effect. Shampoos and other hair care products include this essential oil because it counteracts hair loss. Thanks to its astringent effects it is also often used in toners.
Blends well with: eucalyptus, lavender, rose geranium, rosemary, thyme, cedarwood, coriander, ginger, juniper, lemon, orange, rose and ylang ylang.
Interesting facts: Bay leaf was traditionally used to treat rheumatic ailments, muscle pain, circulation problems, colds and flu, as well as tooth and skin irritations.
