Description

Aritha (Reetha) Powder

Country of origin: India

Description: Made from dry grinded fruits from the Aretha (Reetha) tree. It is brown in color with a slight herbal scent. Dried Aritha fruits are also much known as Soap Nuts. The powder contains a lot of saponins so it foams well when mixed with water and can thoroughly clean even oily scalp and hair. It can be used instead of a shampoo, shower gel, facial cleanser or for cleaning.

Properties: It has good cleansing abilities. In Ayurveda it is used for problem skin care like psoriasis or eczema. Because of its gentle insecticide properties it is appropriate for natural head lice removal, especially in combination with Neem powder or Neem oil. It can also be used for washing laundry, dishes and for precious metal cleaning.

Directions for use:

Hair washing: Mix Aritha powder with water until you are satisfied with the density of the paste. Let it sit for 20 minutes. Apply to hair and scalp, massage in well, leave on for 20-30 minutes. Rinse with water, no need to shampoo. Use it weekly for shiny and healthy hair. For even better results you can use a mixture of equal parts of Aritha, Amla and Neem powders and use it the same way.

Skin/body care: Mix Aritha powder with water until you are satisfied with the density of the paste. Let it sit for 20 minutes. Use fresh mixture for face cleansing or as a shower gel. Especially good for oily skin and acne care.

Caution: When preparing mixtures with natural clays or plant powders, you should never use products made from metals (cups, spoons etc.) since the natural ingredients can react with metals and that changes them chemically.  It is best to use products made from wood, glass or ceramics.
