Description

Indigo Powder

Country of origin: India

Description: Indigo powder is obtained from the ground leaves of the indigo plant and has a very strong smell that is reminiscent of fresh peas. Once a paste is formed the consistency has a dark green shade that slowly converts to blue. The more time the paste is given to oxidize, the darker it becomes - it may appear navy blue to black.

Indigo gives the hair increased volume, shine and texture when used to dye the hair. It is ideal for covering grey hair, improves hair manageability, and supplies hydration and protection. Indigo is often used to dye fabrics and can be used as a colour additive for soaps or other skincare products.

Application: When indigo is mixed with henna, the paste has a medium to dark brown shade. A rich black colour is obtained when using indigo to dye hair that has been coloured using henna. When used as a dye on its own, the colour result is dark blue. Read the accompanying instructions carefully before applying the product to your hair. Avoid contact with your eyes and mouth and do not use on broken skin. Always perform a strand and allergy test before using the product.

Note: DO NOT bleach the hair after apply indigo powder! This will result in a green colour outcome! Indigo requires two full days to completely oxidize for the final result to be apparent on the hair. Therefore it is not advised to use any chemical shampoos during this time as it may have an effect on the final colour outcome.

Caution: When preparing mixtures with natural clays or plant powders, you should never use products made from metals (cups, spoons etc.) since the natural ingredients can react with metals and that changes them chemically.  It is best to use products made from wood, glass or ceramics.

Ingredients: 100% Indigofera Tinctoria (True Indigo)

Indigo powder instructions for use

PLEASE READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE END CAREFULLY, BEFORE DYING YOUR HAIR.

Indigo powder is from the ground leaves of the indigo plant (Indigofera Tinctoria), which contains a deep blue dye used for natural hair colorant. The leaves are harvested, dried, and ground into a powder.

Indigo powder is a medium to bright green powder from the ground leaves of the plant and smells like fresh peas, very strong and pungent. When mixed into a paste it is a dark rich green that slowly shows blue dye on the top and will appear a navy blue/blackish color with time.

Basic facts

INDIGO powder used alone gives deep blue color if used alone.

INDIGO mixed with HENNA gives medium brown to rich deep brown color.

INDIGO applied over HENNA treated hair gives a lush black color.

CAUTION : DO NOT BLEACH YOUR HAIR AFTER USING INDIGO ON IT, YOUR HAIR WILL TURN GREEN!

DON’T try using indigo alone on any light hair color (blonde hair color/ash hair color), including grey hair, as it has the potential to produce blue or green color.

On grey hair, make sure the hair is orange from your henna before using indigo. If the grey hair looks bluish after using indigo (Very rare, but it could happen if henna didn’t cover it properly), then just repeat the henna application followed by indigo again.

Perform a strand test and an allergy test before using this product.

As indigo stains clothes and tiles, please cover all work surfaces. Wear gloves to protect your hands from being stained, drape an old towel over your shoulders to protect clothing.
