Amla Powder

Description: Made from dry grinded fruits from the Amla tree. It is also called the Indian gooseberry. It has a light brown color and a slight sour scent reminiscent of cranberries and oak bark. Amla extract are widely used in natural shampoos, hair oils and natural colors. Because of its high tannin content it can be used as a fabric color fixative.
Properties: It is very rich in vitamin C, has an antioxidant effect and helps to prevent premature hair graying. Also helps with hair loss and dandruff. It has an astringent effect on the skin so it is very good for normal, combination and oily skin.
Directions for use: Hair mask with water: Mix Amla powder with very warm water and let it sit for 15 minutes. Apply to hair and scalp; make sure all hair roots are covered. Leave on for 20-30 minutes, rinse with water, no need to shampoo. Use a natural conditioner or apply a Neem powder mask instead.
Hair mask with plant oil: Mix the same amount of Amla powder and Olive or Coconut oil. Use the same way as mask with water, then rinse, shampoo and condition.
Facial mask: Mix Amla powder with very warm water and let it sit for 15 minutes. Apply to cleansed skin, leave on for 5-10 minutes then rinse with water and moisten the skin with your toner or hydrosol and apply a moisturizer or natural oil.
Caution: When preparing mixtures with natural clays or plant powders, you should never use products made from metals (cups, spoons etc.) since the natural ingredients can react with metals and that changes them chemically. It is best to use products made from wood, glass or ceramics.
